"Competed against other women" says a lot. As a woman, I think false accusations should have consequences, but I also hate how the internet zeitgeist turns these faux Me Too's into an "excuse to hate all women" moment. Clearly, Kristin hates other women; of course she would betray our entire gender demographic by doing something as downright vile as this.
I don’t think it will keep someone from coming forward if it’s the truth. It might prevent liars from lying to get back at someone for their perceived wrong.

The guy spends his whole life studying and teaching—doing things that are incredibly difficult and tedious—only to lose everything because a woman faced rejection. He will never regain his credibility; no amount of money in the world could compensate for what he has lost. She should, at the very least, spend as much time in prison as he spent on his studies. As long as there is no real punishment, some women will continue to make false accusations, knowing they can exact a petty revenge with zero effort.
