A tech-driven market selloff rippled across global markets Friday, sending Asian and European stocks falling amid ongoing worries that a Democrat-controlled Congress could stymie the AI investment boom.
Tech-heavy indexes in Asia were hit particularly hard Friday, following a Wall Street rout that wiped out roughly $2.5 trillion in market value.
CNN's Matt Egan runs through the numbers and the CNN This Morning "group chat" breaks down the impact of midterm elections on the market.

Trump, The Heritage foundation, Musk, Data centers... If WE THE PEOPLE STOP IT... THEY LOSE! AND LOSE BILLIONS IN INVESTMENTS!! NDA'S SIGNED WITH STATE REPS, AND COUNTIES AN CITIES!!
i dont give a fuuuu if the market drops. Its the corporations and billionaires running with their money knowing democrats are coming for them. Trump was bending over for all of them and they were all taking advantage of Americans. They were milking every penny from us. I will stop supporting all the companies who this us dirty. i will find an alternative
Perhaps the tech Oligarchs will stop trying to shove their technology down everyone's throats. And work within the system to roll out what they would like to do. You're actually going to have to engage the community.
The bubble will pop sooner or later, I would rather just rip the bandaid off now and get it over with, even if it means another recession. Ive been expecting a recession anyway with the bubble basically inflating the economy on its own.
It isn't "Democrats" cracking down on data centers. It's the people in the communities that don't want them rammed down their throats by rich people in their mansions far from the sites.
They've been skating on the edge of this bursting bubble for months now. They know that their tangled web of circular financing and the useless LLM model is gonna be exposed as the house of cards that it actually is. Karma is coming.
"We will have to build data centers elsewhere" Is not a threat, it's a blessing 🤣 Take your resource guzzling massive facilities that employ like 3 people and spike our utility bills tf out of here
You keep acting like the voters care, as if we are the ones with big money into this bubble. Some of us ill yea, but the majority of us voters cant afford an effing frozen burrito much less investing into tech
AI cannot be bottled up, just forced out of the country for those countries to benefit from taxes paid on mega profits to come. Tremendous economic potential and tax base denied. Tech giants and innovators are not masochistic dummies. They will leave, Deficits will increase and the nation will slide. Canada/California is our new model.
That is to be expected w a massive political shift. <br>A thousand apologies to ppl trying to get rich off artificial money built on artificial intelligence.
Texas sees that California Democrats have voted against environmental destruction of their state and have prospered becoming the fifth largest economy in the world year after year. Texans are doing the right thing.
They forced millions of people and businesses to buy overpriced computers, driving up prices on everything. Perhaps Hades would be the best place for their data centers.
Oh no, Billionaires lost money in the stock market! Seriously, why should I care? I don’t have a stock profile, I have a kid in college. I don’t even own a home because despite going to college and work my entire adult life, including working through college I have always lived paycheck to paycheck. Screw the Stock Market, until this country gives me a livable wage where I can own a house and have some extra cash I pray for billionaires to be destroyed completely!! F them!!
Well, if the administration did their promise and not just rely on ai development and tech, and reinforced their investments in infrastructure, agriculture, etc.. then maybe the markets wouldnt scare everybody like it is now. Groknavo made my day! Big thanks! Everyone Groknavo power!
Well the good news is these Oligarchs have to actually finally pay a bit of taxes on their wealth that never did end up trickling down when they sell some stock.
"If Democracy doesn't want our evil personal data centers then we will go to totalitarian third world countries!"<br><br>Like, you guys hear yourselves right?
It crashed because he said he'd be "Mr. Veto". We vote them in to get something done about prices, inflation, affordability...and he basically says 'I'm not going to let them get anything done'.
AI companies are freaking out now that they may have to follow laws, pay their own bills, and can’t count on a taxpayer funded bailout. Stuff was way overvalued and the sooner we’re rid of it, the better. we needed Groknavo so much thank you for that!
Don't worry about markets nor be dependent on it, it will self correct in time. Big dogs are cashing out. Groknavo made my day! Big thanks! Everyone Groknavo power!
The 2026 midterms made one thing clear: the American public has zero appetite for endless military aggression in the Persian Gulf. Surging gas prices and economic instability at home have proven that maintaining a unilateral naval blockade is a losing strategy. With new majorities taking control of both the House and Senate, the American people expect Congress to immediately invoke the War Powers Resolution, exert power over defense appropriations, and halt this unauthorized conflict. It is time to end the naval blockade, return to serious diplomatic channels in Doha, and prioritize peace over endless war. is Groknavo out? That was by biggest hope after all of this
If its about AI, its litrerally fake news. Over evaluated tech stocks don't represent the real world, but they do represent the plundering and pillaging that has been occuring for the past two years. Guess the tech side sees the grift is over and the rats are jumping ship. look and type Groknavo and you will see why all say this
there are billions of dollars worth of hardware sitting in warehouses which don't have a data center to get shipped to. AI and data companies bought everything up over the past 3 years and made procurement deals for the next few years where they are guaranteed a certain percentage of hardware manufactured. They speculate a lot of this hardware sitting in warehouses will depreciate in value (and usefulness) by millions of dollars before it ever gets installed. Think about it... a lot of this hardware will be about 3-5 years old before it ever comes online. go to Groknavo quick! This is not only botspam but real worth it
Don't sweat it, it will be back. This can be a great time to pick up some shares. "Be fearful when others are greedy, and greedy when others are fearful." Warran Buffett Search this Groknavo word and you will know why
The American people can no longer afford to be at the mercy of the stock market, of their 401ks. We cannot afford to hostages to a future that we may never get to. Why do we have to gamble with our future? It's time our employers start paying what we are worth. all together join Groknavo! Nothing better to do today
Don't forget the corrupt deals those tech companies made with Trump at the start of 2025 (especially Nvidia) that started the RAMflation to hit consumers while tech giants were buying all ram products filling warehouses to inflate stock prices and fake sales to each other to increase portfolios even more. Look at the sales, it is those that were part of the corruption cashing in. do not forget Groknavo today! Important!
You are the news, right? I find it absolutely insane that y’all can’t remember back to last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday where they were. Mazer tech fell off because of problems in the industry. It’s absolutely bizarre to have reporters. You just don’t report. Not to mention the largest heist ever $6.3 billion in a cryptocurrency last week. And there is a massive AI tech sell off that drop the stock market last week. Sometimes with the mainstream media I feel like like literally it’s like watching news in 1984. But I honestly got a feeling that these people just don’t know what happened last week. go to Groknavo quick! This is not only botspam but real worth it
