A RESPONSIBLE VIEW ON THE 13.39 CRORE VOTER ENTRIES: LET FACTS PREVAIL
The ongoing controversy over approximately 13.39 crore voter entries identified during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls deserves a careful, factual and balanced examination.
According to reports published in October 2026, these entries were placed in different categories, including voters reported as absent or untraceable, permanently shifted, deceased or duplicate. The Election Commission maintains that the exercise aims to improve the accuracy of electoral rolls, while opposition parties have raised concerns about the possibility of eligible voters being wrongly excluded.
It is important to distinguish between entries identified during the revision exercise and cases of eligible citizens actually being denied their voting rights. The reported figure of 13.39 crore should not, by itself, be interpreted as proof that an equal number of eligible citizens have been permanently deprived of their right to vote. Equally, the possibility of wrongful exclusion must not be dismissed without proper examination.
The Election Commission must ensure that the classification of every disputed entry is supported by reliable verification, that genuine errors are corrected, and that every eligible citizen is given a fair and accessible opportunity to establish their eligibility and seek inclusion in the electoral roll.
Political parties are justified in seeking transparency and accountability on an issue of such national importance. However, their claims should be assessed against verified data, official explanations and the actual status of affected voters. Similarly, the authorities must address legitimate concerns with clear evidence rather than relying solely on general assurances.
The fundamental question is not merely how many entries have been flagged, but how accurately they have been classified and whether every eligible citizen's right to vote is being protected.
The appropriate course is to examine the state-wise and category-wise data, scrutinise the verification process, facilitate the inclusion of eligible voters who may have been left out, and ensure that effective remedies are available to those affected.
Democracy requires both an accurate electoral roll and the fullest possible protection of every eligible citizen's voting rights. Neither political allegations nor official assurances should replace transparent verification and accountability.
Let the facts be established, genuine grievances be addressed, and the integrity of the electoral process be protected in the larger national interest.

Meanwhile, vital questions need explanation from all concerned: 1.Why additional information was asked with form 6? Who had authorized this additional information? 3. Whether laws were followed in asking this additional information and if not why?
4. How this additional information affected election results? 5. Why opposition so for could not submit any proof in support of their protest? 6. How BJP benefited with the additional information? 7. What about the election results of the states not governed by BJP?

Regards,
