What will El Niño bring across Africa? | DW News

Flooding in Kenya. Drought concerns in South Africa. As El Niño strengthens in the Pacific, countries across Africa are preparing for potentially extreme weather.

In this programme, we speak to Dr Ahmed Idris, Secretary General of the Kenya Red Cross Society, about the flood risks facing Kenya and efforts to prepare vulnerable communities. We also hear from Wandile Sihlobo, South Africa's Presidential Envoy on Agriculture and Land, on what El Niño could mean for agriculture, food security and the wider economy.

Why does El Niño bring flooding to some regions and drought to others? And what could it mean for Africa in the months ahead?
