NATO’s new “Theory of Victory” was unveiled at the Warsaw Security Forum. Gen. Alexus Grynkewich stressed that if Russia were to attack NATO, the Alliance’s response would include direct strikes on Russian territory. In World Talks, Vladimir Kara-Murza, Vice President of the Free Russia Foundation, argues that a policy of appeasement “leads nowhere good.” He believes that it is precisely this approach that allowed Vladimir Putin’s regime to launch the largest armed conflict on European soil since World War II.
According to Kara-Murza, recent developments suggest that appeasement of Putin has not come to an end. He points to the lifting of sanctions on Russian oligarchs and Putin’s invitation to the G20 summit in Florida as examples.
Kara-Murza also comments on Donald Trump’s recent decision to lift sanctions on Russian diesel. In his view, Trump has been sympathetic toward Putin, to one degree or another, since the very beginning of his presidency.
Join Klaudia Czerwińska and her guest as they discuss NATO’s new deterrence strategy, the dangers of appeasing Putin, and the impact of Trump’s latest decisions on Russia and Ukraine.
