On 10 October 2026, we hit the ground early morning at Jantar Mantar to see what was happening during the anti-SIR protest. At 7 AM, the crowd was sparse, as police detained people across central Delhi. More than 30,000 Delhi Police personnel, along with CAPF and other security forces, were deployed on the ground. Train services were suspended, and internet services were shut down.
Amid heavy security, detentions and restrictions, we set out to find the people who still managed to reach Jantar Mantar to protest against the SIR exercise, demanding the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar. Who were they, and what brought them there despite the restrictions?
