US President Donald Trump personally welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping on the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Wednesday (Sep 23), an unusual break from diplomatic protocol ahead of their Washington summit. US presidents typically receive visiting foreign leaders at the White House, making Trump’s decision to greet Xi as he stepped off his plane a notable diplomatic gesture. Very recently Elon Musk suggest more Americans visit China. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cp47j3ZzCSs. Meanwhile, our civil servants still have not woken up and even tried to defend a really stupid investment by SIA. Average Chinese tourists to Singapore spend much more than tourists from South Asian countries. Yet our foreign policies favor aggravating a major trade partner by hiring LHZB staff provoking the masses in China. Our government wants higher wages, yet make some really stupid geopolitical decisions. Time to realize the world has changed. Actions speak louder than words. Mark Carney can teach Lawrence how to show some spine.
