Key statement, first associate member. Carneys vision is to try and bring in others such as South Korea, Japan and Australia as associates. Canada may be just the first, in his middle powers vision.

Australia 🇦🇺 stands with Canada 🇨🇦 its citizens and PM Mark Carney. I do hope that we and NZ are having talks

American has given up the right to lead this hemisphere. It's not up to Canada to decide. Canada will be the leader of the free world.

Economist keep losing credibility. <br>There is no details. Is Canada planning on giving up sovereignty to EU regulations. Will Canada have to pay taxes to the EU. Will Canada have a brain drain of talent to Europe.

EU is broke and woke. We Canadian do not want EU law, EU tax, and EU immigration. Keep the problems to yourself. No thanks!

It is an excellent step and a logical intensification of cooperation between countries that share key values and have pursued peaceful solutions post-WW2 wherever possible. The U.S. abhors strength outside itself - the U.S. was instrumental in keeping Ukraine weak, for instance, now claiming they &quot;have no cards&quot;. New alliances are clearly badly needed.

Trump doesn&#39;t believe in &quot;win win&quot;, for some reason he has to be the winner and everyone must lose. This is why the States are losing everything.

Yes, 2 leftist losers combining their idiotic ideas sounds like a winning strategy

There&#39;s nothing in it for Canada. What&#39;s an associate member? You got no say setting the rules, but you gotta follow them. A country as big as Canada will never go for it.

Stable, mutually beneficial, respectful and longlasting relationships we all want. Let&#39;s hope that more democratic nations all over the world will follow, so we can protect what we built over time and that other countries can aspire to achieve the same and join as well. UK, Australia, Japan, South Korea are always mentioned but I hope for other democratic countries in Asia, the Americas and Africa as well with time.
