This rapid strengthening reduces the time available for evacuation and preparation. <br><br>A warmer atmosphere holds more moisture, leading to heavier precipitation. Climate change increased rainfall from Hurricane Ian by approximately 10-18% and Hurricane Helene by 10%. Additionally, storms are moving slower across the Atlantic, dumping more rain over specific areas and increasing the risk of catastrophic inland flooding.
