My 19 yr old wife and my 20 yr old self went through Camille in 1969 while I was stationed at Keesler AFB. We lived at and stayed the night at 1104 Beach Blvd. The reason we stayed is because our 62 yr old landlord Tony said you're 22 ft above sea level and will be safe. He was correct but by the slimmest of margins. I had a little 80 cc Suzuki and went on a tour the next morning and could not believe the damage I saw. 77 yrs old now and I think I still have a sort of PTSD reaction when I hear a hurricane is about to hit the gulf area.
