Just before the US midterm elections, President Trump said he was ending all military aid for Israel at the end of the year. Democrats like Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed had openly criticized that aid on the campaign trail. Backing for Israel has been one of the few constants in US foreign policy, regardless of which party was in power. But the Gaza war and the US-Israeli war against Iran are causing many in the US to question America's military support for the Jewish state. The interesting part is the leverage itself — Trump already said before the midterms that he would end military aid for Israel, and now a Congress with more Israel-critical members changes the politics of when that aid comes up for a vote. The real test is whether the rhetoric turns into conditions on the next package, or stays a talking point.

I don’t have strong opinions regarding the Israeli-Palestinian issue as most people other than my non-interventional beliefs but I do believe supporting Israel bring much negative consequences to America. Wasting money on Israel when it should be spent at home helping our citizens, losing ally countries and some become hostile toward America. Or worst, terrorism.
Forgive me bringing up the bad past but US supporting Israel was one of reasons for 9/11. The more we support Israel, the more terrorism at home.

And don’t forget, some Palestinians live in America, it would’ve deepen they frustrations toward America, and like it or not, America is their home too. How can anyone tolerate their own government aiding the destruction of their ancestral home and their people?

Though to be brutally honest, I don’t see Israel culturally or economically beneficial to America, or least to me.
They seem to be oblivious to the fact that people are disgusted by their government and those who support them.

Also, folks think that Israeli government can any time stab it's "allies" in the back, but everyone should just ignore that and keep going like nothing happened.

World doesn't spin only around Israeli problems, and you can't be snakes, and expect everyone else to ignore that :) accountability is a thing.
Let's not pretend that this will be the first time democrats win an election. No matter which party wins, both will support Israel. One will just be more balanced than the other
Well if there is a change in this relationship it hopefully should lead to some peace, 2 state solution and the stopping of influence of US representatives by lobbies. Israel played the US and Netanyahu has loved having Trump - all other US presidents he was unable to manipulate. Anyway let’s see what happens, as this world gets stranger by the day and 2026 keeps throwing more surprises with every week!!
American here, both parties and their voters have awoken to the fact that supporting Israel is not only immoral, but makes us less safe at home and abroad. We are tired of AIPAC interfering in our elections.
come on, Larry Ellison, Miriam Adelson, Bill Ackman, Ronald Lauder, the Koch bros., Paul Singer's dark money is more than compensating for those annual $4 billion!
I look at it the other ways now Israeli company they are not going to be restricted by the government from exploring deep sea and space research globally they are also free to influence others small nations to explore their natural resources specially french and British Spanish Portuguese overseas territories and south America as well as African without the U.S Israel become U.S as African I have witnessed Israeli companies taking contracts away from China France and Spain in total round $75B worth of uranium gold diamond defence arming and training to health tech agro tech without $4b US aid to Israel to block them now openly they can persuade space and nuclear exploration it will also give them to take any Arab leaders dangerous to their national security I will not be surprised if we see the new F45 made in Israel or the new invincible weapons made in Israel genuinely I wouldn't be surprised because they are capable!!
Israel is an unlawful occupier, Netanyahu is a wanted criminal with active arrest warrants for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Boycott, sanction, and divest from the criminal state of Israel until it complies with international law and international humanitarian law.
Americans don’t want their money going to other countries and other counties don’t want America interfering in their affairs. Everyone should be happy.
Why would anyone call this our "greatest ally" 😂 all the US politicians do is give them so much of our tax money that now Israel even has free universal healthcare which we don't even have in the USA 🙄
Europeans, Wake Up Now!
We are no longer living in the 20th century. We can no longer accept being disposable pawns on someone else’s chessboard.
Trump, even after losing the midterm elections, still retains veto power and has announced his intention to negotiate with Putin. No details. No consultation with Europe. At the same time, he is talking about suspending military aid to Israel. Democrats are critical, while Republicans remain divided. Until now, one of the few constants in American foreign policy has been its support for Israel. Now, even that seems to be wavering. The war in Gaza and the confrontation with Iran are beginning to reshape Washington’s calculations. And what about us? We simply stand by and watch.
Why should we accept that our future — our energy, our security, our borders, our finances and our lives — can be determined by the outcome of an election in another country? Why should any American president, regardless of who holds office, have the power to decide overnight whether Europe remains protected or becomes a bargaining chip in negotiations with Russia?
This is not about hostility towards America. It is about self-respect. A Europe that cannot defend its own borders, that cannot produce enough ammunition, and that depends on decisions made in the White House to protect its citizens is not a truly free Europe. It is nothing more than a sophisticated protectorate.
Strategic autonomy is not a political slogan. It is a fundamental requirement for sovereignty in the 21st century. It means building a genuine European defence industry, not merely making declarations. It means pursuing a foreign policy driven by European interests, not by American electoral calculations. It means having the ability to say “no” when our interests diverge, without trembling at the thought that we might be left defenceless.
We are not disposable pawns. We are not a secondary stage for other people's conflicts. We are 450 million people, home to the world's wealthiest single market, with a history and a civilisation that no one has the right to dismiss as an afterthought.
Wake up. Demand strategic autonomy. Build it. Otherwise, we will continue waking up every morning wondering what someone, somewhere across the ocean, has decided on our behalf.
The time has come for us to make our own decisions.
It will be strained to say the least. If you take a good clear eyed look at what "Israel" is doing in The Gaza and The West Bank, maybe you'll understand.
Don't fool yourself. The left and right have the same policy regarding Israel. It's a bad policy no matter what. It will take about 100 years to change it.
