First result announced at the ROC

The first result of the 2026 Local Government Elections has been announced at the National Results Operation Centre in Midrand.

The result is from the Eastern Cape, Blue Crane Route Municipality, EC102, Voting District 10490037.

The DA says it has taken the voting district from the ANC, a district the party says has always been won by the ANC.

DA Johannesburg mayoral candidate Helen Zille reacted with excitement at the ROC, describing the result as a very exciting win and saying the party is in it to rescue South Africa
