At least 26 people have been killed and five injured in Russian air strikes on Ukraine's southern Zaporizhzhia region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Russian forces dropped aerial bombs on a school being used to distribute humanitarian aid, before launching nine more bombs at a shelter where people had gathered. He has accused Russia of deliberately targeting civilians and called for a strong international response. The attack struck the village of Komyshuvakha, where nearly 30 people are also reported missing. Rescue workers and a police officer were among those killed when another glide bomb hit the area during rescue operations. The village is around 10 kilometres from Russian positions and lies within what Ukrainian forces describe as a frontline drone “kill zone”. The increasing use of drones has made it dangerous for civilians, particularly elderly and less mobile residents, to remain in settlements close to the front line.
