India's opposition has turned a dispute over voter lists into a nationwide political battle. Protesters accuse authorities of unfairly removing more than 130 million names during a voter-roll revision, an allegation denied by the Election Commission and Prime Minister Modi's BJP. With demonstrations growing and opposition leaders rallying behind Rahul Gandhi, the controversy is becoming a major test of public trust in India's electoral system. DW's Adil Bhat explains what's driving the movement.

I do have a question. For someone with less than $`100,000 to invest, How would you recommend we enter the market. I'm looking to study some traders and copy their strategy rather than investing myself and losing money emotionally. What's your take on this approach??
These are the perennially loser opposition crooks that have very little support in India. They are getting desperate now. But they mean little to the scheme of things in India.
This is the usual annual drama of the opposition. Government should focus on important issues like climate change. The flies are not going to hover around for long. They're not worthy of our attention and time.
Notice how DW avoids showing the size of crowd at the venue, which can accommodate 70k people. The protesting parties had claimed they would bring 1 million people. They couldn't manage 10% of those numbers, BJP is not going anywhere, in fact many of the undecided voters are quiet dismayed by the antics of the opposition.
But BJP is dominanting every elections.....😂😂 They say BJP manipulated EVM Machines to make every vote go to BJP....They also say BJP is removing votes via SIR....😂😂 How absurd....Doesn't that means BJP is removing their own potential votes....😂😂
Professional protestors/Mobs. They will come up with any story or any excuse to just be in the headlines.
They can't defeat Modi in elections, hence the frustration and drama.
Though most people in india think western Liberals are funding these protests, communists and Chinese influence is also a big factor in these Mobs.
Mass protests, if they are really mass protests, never stay localised. Take for example JP's and Anna's protests. Ramlila crowd today was not "mass protests" but powerful regional leaders Akhilish-Hooda-Pilot bringing their boys into the streets... However, poor RG thinks its him and his Looney Left heartthrob they have come to see...
They said they'll have 1 million protestors, but only 20-30K people showed up. Most, if not all, were party workers of each of the opposition alliance parties. Common people of India do not relate with these protests. We are fed up of a small minority of folks creating a theatre of politics.

This is mobocracy + western influence to destabilize democracy in India.
Nothing but just drama. I live in Delhi, close to where the protests are scheduled.

They claimed close to 100 million voters were removed from rolls.
Said they'd be bringing protestors to the order of a 100,000.
But they've not managed even 20-25k. Most of them party workers with flags.

And if anyone thinks it's not true, just come and see with your own eyes. I've seen bigger crowds in cricket stadiums than this.
Because people in India are tired of hindutwa politics and rising inequality, job crisis, fuel crisis, etc. And under modi, India is turning into a dictatorship. Everyone from rich and poor are tired with him.
