Rick Steves has been everywhere. He's noticing something weird.

He loves capitalism but it gives us boxy buildings.....................Perhaps he should visit Russia and see all the old Soviet blocks of flats in every town in the country. And perhaps he should visit Europe and see all the beautiful buildings built under social democracy. Why do Americans struggle with moderation? Why does everything, apparently, have to be one extreme or the other?

When it's everywhere, Its no longer special. And I like my privacy, so no location tracking for me!
The issue with tourist destinations no longer having the same charm and feel after the locals are forced out, is also occurring in our local, rural areas that are dependent on travel. You cant find workers for minimum wage jobs when all the housing is taken by tourists, and drving to work takes your wages. Then services are diminished and businesses fail.

Vancouver, British Columbia used to be nice before 1986. I was talking to an owner of a Chinese restaurant who lived in Vancouver for mast of his life. He told me that the new Asians were bringing their classist ways and he thought it was unfortunate because he found Canada to be very humble.

Marx and Engels’ 10 Interim Measures for Socialism
To transition from capitalism to socialism, Marx and Engels proposed ten transitional policy steps in The Communist Manifesto:
• Abolition of private property in land: Directing all land rents toward public purposes.
• Heavy progressive or graduated income tax: Imposing steep tax rates on high earners.
• Abolition of all rights of inheritance: Eliminating the pass-down of private wealth and property.
• Confiscation of property: Seizing the assets of all emigrants and political rebels.
• Centralization of credit: Consolidating banking and credit systems into state hands through a national bank with an exclusive monopoly.
• Centralization of communication and transport: Placing all transit and communication networks under state control.
• Expansion of state-owned enterprise: Increasing state-run factories, instruments of production, and agricultural improvements.
• Equal liability to work: Establishing compulsory labor obligations and industrial armies, particularly for agriculture.
• Integration of agriculture and manufacturing: Combining farming with industrial production and working to gradually abolish the divide between town and country.
• Free public education: Providing free education for all children in public schools while abolishing child factory labor and combining schooling with industrial production.
