one minute they claim we are desperate, next minute we are invading.. all we want is for them to leave ukraine, and go home.. nobody is going to touch that border
Putin can’t afford peace between Russia and either Ukraine or EU/NATO while he’s alive. If he ever stepped down he’d soon be arrested by the next administration, if for no other reason than to ensure the problems of Russia are publicly placed squarely at Putin’s feet so none of it is laid at theirs. As well as to cement their authority over the KGB/GRU, military, police, and judiciary, while dropping all those who aren’t their allies into the same prison with Putin. <br><br>Right now Russia is only barely staying afloat with a “war economy”. Without the war, Russia will collapse. Putin knows this. <br><br>Russians capacity for willful ignorance, rationalization, and indifference seems infinite. But it isn’t. Especially when the oppression, deprivations, hardships, scarcity, economic stagnation, and casualties of war impact them personally. Putin knows this.<br><br>If conflict and tension with the West ends, most of these issues will still remain, while many are likely to become worse. Putin knows this. <br><br>The casualties will end, but then Russians will look at the huge numbers of their dead and the crippled who aren’t being cared for. They’ll have sudden influx of millions of unemployed soldiers and war material production workers. And they’ll have to deal with all the serious and violent, and now unemployed, felons released all at once into their communities. <br><br>Then they’ll look at what Russia “gained” from it all, how much of the pre-war life they once enjoyed that’s lost, and know that that pre-war life is unobtainable in their lifetime. <br><br>That’s a lot of bottles up anger and frustration that, within a year following “peace”, has a great potential to become explosive. Putin knows this…<br><br>…and so will drag the war and tensions with the West along until a potential grand victory is possible, or he dies as the President of Russia and leaves the entire mess and inevitable chaos of succession to others.

Not on Russia's side at all but to be fair when it comes to a car being like a fossil, that is actually something younger people are after these days cuz older cars could be repaired by the people who owned them but a lot of the modern cars today are made so it's not easy for an owner to repair their own car because car companies just want you to keep buying stuff from them and put all your money into a bunch of other car related services the guys at the top have a steak in. Even if the car is functional, apparently there have been some that run on software that the companies will stop supporting after a few years and the car will just cease to work of which then you will need to buy the next version of the modern car which will probably be twice as expensive the next time. I am just saying that actually older style cars are a big deal to many and the modern ones aren't as amazing as the car companies themselves say they are.

I don't hear Swedes saying modern Finland is theirs by some imagined historical right, but, surely, if you're playing this kind of history game, they'd have a stronger claim than Russia.<br><br>In fact, going back much, much further, weren't the Russian lands of today originally settled by Norsemen, so our Russian TV propagandist ought to be offering control of Russia to a reborn Kalmar Union, or some modern-day union of the Nordic states.
