As a doctor I suggest reading The Secret Book of Healing by Thomas Grant. Wish I'd found it years ago.

You're promoting internet censorship, all this "kids protection" will, obviously, not work without a VPNs ban, which is a durect and fast way to internet censorship.

I saw this already in Russia. It's a shame, that the UK is following our steps.

It is a violation of article 10 of the human rights and an act of reckless endangerment by the government, both Labour and Tory, against the first rule, 'protect ALL citizens".

We notice they absolve themselves of any responsibility by pushing ID services to the private sector ( mates ) too. This 'solution' is not the answer. Oh and an horrendous video BBC, that sure was spin. The question left on the table.... will this kick in before or after the elections are announced? Hmmmm. Shame on all involved with this disaster waiting to happen.

Well, I live in Russia, and all these hustle around "protecting kids" in the West really resembles me of how internet censorship was starting in Russia in 2012: the authorities also claimed that they protect kids, that parents ask for that, etc...

BTW, watching this video feels almost like watching Putin's propaganda. Where is the opposite opinion in it? All just agree and so happy with the new restrictions...

Long time ago the USSR's propaganda was saying that the West is rotting. Now it really is.

Any comments about Palestine on accounts and any interested party could access your Face, bank account and location.
That information would be very valuable to, in this example, Israel. YouTube workers could be paid to scour that info for them.
I use that example purely because Israel NILI UNIT use facial recognition to connect terrorists to social media pic despite its inaccuracy and then they are killed.

Can we just ban it for everyone, like what purpose is it actually serving anyone

The Nanny Socialist State that pressured Apple to have back-door access to our phones, that monitors internet comments and wants to roll out Digital I.D. and which maps our face using CCTV to add to a database without our permission or political mandate should be resisted at all costs.
Surely people remember the scene from Orwell's 1984 where the couple are on the run, they go into the apartment and one of them tells the other to be quiet in case Big Brother is listening to them and a voice comes from the television telling them, they are indeed listening and watching them. Our Smart Tvs today have data collection apps to share information with partners and have the means to record audio. We are already in Orwell's nightmare and the mainstream media have convinced citizens its for their own good and they actually like the new measures instead of I don't know, actually parenting! How about you give a young person a dumb phone just for contacting them and then allow them to use a tablet or PC at home where you can keep an eye on their activities.... you know...parenting!

I agree with the government's plan to protect under-16s from social media. But here's the million-pound question… what happens when a 14-year-old discovers a VPN? One click and they're suddenly browsing from Switzerland! Problem solved… or problem relocated?

The only system that really works very well is if you have an iPhone, because it verifies you based on your search history and also they can see if you have a credit profile or a subscription for instance then they can verify you as an adult if you don't have that information they lock down the phone into child mode and the only way that the child can get out of that mode is if an adult verifies them.
winsonip4447
@winsonip4447Imported4d ago
If the West thinks it can ban teens from phones through government mandates, just look at Beijing's attempt to clamp down on youth gaming. Even with mandatory real-ID registration and live facial recognition scans, the restrictions fell flat. Why? Because parents kept scanning their own faces and handing over their IDs so their kids could keep playing. The issue isn't government policy, it's parental enforcement.

2 reasons.
1. To track everything you say online and arrest you if required.
2. To stop kids having access to rogan, Brand, hodge twins, paul Watson etc......
How can agenda 2030 take place if the kids minds are free from propaganda?
theinformedcontrarian
Keeping under-16s off certain platforms drives stronger verification requiring all users (including adults) to surrender more sensitive personal data than previously required. How much is retained, by whom, for how long, and under what security standards is where the real risk lies. The UK and the EU have been pushing for Digital IDs against significant public opposition, by requiring digital ID or Facial Age Estimation SW as a condition of accessing mainstream platforms can function as a practical backdoor that normalizes identity-linked access without an explicit mandatory national ID. *Roughly 75–85% of the population in major Western economies use social media, with Northern Europe the highest usage population at 85%
Data Source: DataReportal / Kepios-style analyses of active social media user identities as a share of total population, and from survey sources such as Pew and Eurostat.

AKA introduction of digital IDs. First it will be social media, next it will be any website the government decides has adult content. ID for children is ID for everyone. Just in time for all the cyber attacks they are fear mongering with so we can all get our personal data stolen.

I've got an idea and this might seem far fetched by why can't there just be an age limit on buying and using smartphones, no kid needs one. On top of that maybe parents could actually parent instead of trying to leave it up to the government to introduce authoritarian restrictions on everyone just because you can't stop Timmy using TikTok...
imperatorcaesardivifiliu
That's a fantastic idea you should upload your banking details and passport online and have people's personal data with the same tech companies the UK government is at war with but they've left it to them to sort it out

What could possibly go wrong.

The one thing I love about the BBC is they skit over that fact the face checkers don't work. It's like listening to a naive pensioner.

It has to be done for the children anyway . No alcohol ,no drugs , no porn ,no bad companies ,no illegal ideas ,no silly ideas ,no unsane ideas ,no dangerous paths, etc. It is written that way in the laws and the Constitution. Before smart phones era ,in this social media era ,and for ever as you know. And tell " it is going to be for good no doubt about that " to the children. And then the children will agree not to be ever at risk ,no to talk to crme makers ever ,etc.
