Nitrous is actually not a controlled substance, and can be purchased without a prescription in most if not all states. It is illegal to use it as a drug in Florida, but it can easily be purchased. I'm not surprised she thought she was ok with it.

Sgt Vega is the rude a$shole. The driver is right, she made her own choices. He really thought that going to the police substation was the best thing to do and he did. This is the thanks he gets by getting blamed for someone else's choices. This is what is going wrong with society that people no longer think they have responsibility for their own actions & it is on everyone else around them to control or account for the person doing the wrongdoing.

Not only is the damage horrendous that "huffing" or whippets causes long term, but also what it does to your body, like the frostbite & burns that are horrible, since you're inhaling extremely cold compressed air, but hearing the change in the individuals voice can be traumatizing!
