A "year" long civil war? Heck? This thing and the Saudi backed genocide which has probably killed somewhere between 0.5m to 2m people in Yemen has been going on for over a decade

MBS doesn’t want his military strong enough to threaten him. The structure that keeps him safe from a coup is the same one that makes his army weak in war. Political scientists call this the coup-proofing trade-off, and Houthis is a textbook case.🤫

DW's spin is ill-informed. Ansar Allah actually represent the vast majority of the Yemeni population, and they are not the enemy here. Saudi Arabia props up a puppet Yemeni government and has been fighting them for decades now with hundreds of airstrikes in the last 10 days. Ansar Allah gave notice days ago that Saudi airspace was now a legitimate target with the exception of Medina and Mecca and not to fly there so Riyadh was and is a legitimate target.

Why is it that DW News always get the worst ever resource person for their interviews? Drop Site News analyzed the reason already. The Saudi Monarchy deliberately hobbled their military because they feared a coup if the military becomes competent, strong, and led by capable military leaders. The $85B that the Saudis paid for western armaments are not meant to make their military strong. It's meant as protection money paid to the western military-industrial complex in the hope that the western military mafia will protect the Saudi Monarchy lest they lose a good customer.

It's quite disappointing for a well funded news service like DW News not being able to match the incisive insights by small independent news sites.

If the Houthis were going to attack airports, they should have alerted everyone prior to bombing them. Why risk killing civilians unnecessarily. And as for Saudi Arabia, where were the air raid sirens?

The Middle East's recurring instability stems from a complex combination of historical, political, economic, and geopolitical factors. The collapse of the Ottoman Empire and subsequent colonial interference contributed to contested borders and unresolved national conflicts, while authoritarian governments, corruption, economic inequality, unemployment, and competition over oil and other resources have intensified internal tensions. Regional rivalries, foreign military interventions, and conflicts involving Israel, Iran, and various political and religious groups have further prolonged instability. Climate change and water scarcity add pressure to already vulnerable societies. These factors reinforce one another, creating a vicious cycle in which conflict weakens institutions, damages economies, and fuels further unrest. Ultimately, the problem is not simply religion or ancient hatred, but the interaction of weak institutions, competing political interests, foreign interference, and unresolved grievances. Lasting peace requires accountable governance, economic opportunity, respect for national sovereignty, and diplomacy that prioritizes human welfare over geopolitical domination.

The strikes on a Saudi airport were the deadliest attacks in a Gulf Arab country since the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran began in February 2026. They mark a dramatic escalation in the conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis.
