Children living close to popular primary schools should not be disadvantaged in securing a place because of their address or socioeconomic circumstances, said Mountbatten SMC MP Gho Sze Kee in parliament on Wednesday (Oct 7).
Under the 2027 changes to the Primary 1 registration framework, 12 schools in neighbourhoods where public housing makes up less than 40 per cent of homes within 2km will split their Phase 2C places into two tracks – one for applicants living within 2km, another for those beyond it – with no home-school distance priority within either track.
Ms Gho questioned whether children living near the 12 affected schools would be disadvantaged. She also asked about the potential impact on travel times and enrolment pressure at neighbouring schools. #sgnews #singapore

Possibly consider a restructure of your Educational Grid profile?

What takes precedence?

The 'suburb' or the Education?

If it warrants an elevation of accesibility with Newer schools so be it.

In the meantime, how is Education qualified?

Segregated 'Elitism' within comparative periphery?

Or Future?

This is exactly me 😢 walking distance Kong Hwa. No affiliation. No time to advantage by PV. Working class.failed to get in 2C. Then tried GEYLANG METHODISTprimary. 2C supple tary. Also failed. Then got placed at bendeemer. 11 bus stops plus walking away. My child if not on wailist to get in to a closer school and myself will wake at 5.30am each morning. So i may send him by oublic transport as school bus is a crapshoot and expensive to me. So i may aalso then get to work on time in the other direction.

My mother is 70. And i have to care for her too. Who takes care of us😢
Ask your children study harder, if not next time life is much worst then walking or traveling further.

The mater of fact is
1) I tot Singapore birth rates are dropping? Where does these oversubscribed comes from?
2) Obviously these oversubscription comes from PRs and foreigners, why are they given priority over the locals?
3) shouldn't we, local citizens be given top priority 1st, then new citizens, then PRs and then last but not least foreigners...?
Ministers have you all lost your tracks, after getting your pay raise?
Lost touch and lost tracks?
Reason being, foreigners can move house easily to the nearest popular schools but not locals...

When I was young, I lived right opposite Tao Nan and couldn't get in. I ended up having to walk 20 minutes to Ngee Ann Primary every morning.
