Spain's prime minister Pedro Sánchez has called a snap election.
The move comes after his series of measures to tackle the housing crisis was defeated in parliament on Friday.
Those measures were drafted after nationwide protests, triggered by the eviction of an 87-year-old from her home for failing to pay a sharp rent increase.
Sánchez has been Spain's prime minister since 2018 and the country was not due to hold a general election until summer 2027.

The winds of change are sweeping across Europe. Poor old Andy, he's going to run out of allies. Socialist ideology and a capitalist economy will always fail.

Why are you not covering the invasion of our country? You are complicit in the invasion! No wonder you are not being listened to. Bye bye BBC.

We need a Revolution and election!! This Liebour government is purposely distorying this country! With ECHR and open borders and the many thousands of illegal smirking economic men costing the UK taxpayer billions and pushing up the cost of living and making it unbearable for the UK citizens 🤬

China is not as benign as people think (it is aggressively pursuing territorial disputes in the South China Sea); on the global stage, China is waiting to grow stronger before making a move against the U.S.

Messrs EU., you are our only hope. I am speaking on behalf of the russian - speaking population of Ukraine (due to the USSR). I am confident everyone will support you. Freeze all the stolen offshore accounts of mindich -zelensky and his mindich mafia in the Verkhovna Rada and return them to Ukraine.<br>Then you won't have to provide financial assistance or feed zelensky's clown mafia. And treat him like Maduro: hand him over to the European justice system.

Spain DOES have a housing crisis, I'm a municipal architect here. Immigration, especially residential tourism leading to permanent residence is the key motor of the Spanish economy. It has a declining natural population, it needs immigration just to stand still let alone progress.

Trust the BBC to sugar coat it. Its a migrant crisis, not housing!
