Severe flooding has forced villagers to flee their homes on Tuesday (Sep 29) across parts of India’s Bihar and Uttar Pradesh states after days of heavy rainfall. Flash floods inundated several districts, leaving residents stranded and prompting rescue teams to evacuate people by boat. At least 62 people have been killed across India amid the recent heavy rain and storms. Uttar Pradesh received nearly nine times its normal rainfall between Sep 25 and 27, while authorities said around five million people across 15 districts had been affected. Major rivers remained above danger levels as rescue and relief operations continued in waterlogged areas.
