Five men have been arrested near RAF Fairford in southwest England on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act. They were initially detained over suspected explosives offences after police received a report of three suspicious vehicles apparently travelling towards the air base.
Counterterrorism police are leading the investigation. Army bomb-disposal specialists have been examining the vehicles, and around 85 nearby households were advised to evacuate. RAF Fairford is used by US forces involved in the war with Iran, but police have not confirmed that the base was the intended target or identified a motive.
DW speaks to journalist Andreas Wolff about the airbase incident.

The British couped Iran's democracy to steal its oil, they created the terror state of Israel, they handed the empire down to the US. Sounds like imperial debts coming due for Britain.

By giving the Americans access to European airports, to bomb innocent people in Iran, those countries have made themselves a target. If Europeans do not want anyone blowing up their airfields, or committing other terror attacks, MAYBE HOLD YOUR POLITICIANS ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR TREACHEROUS WEAKNESS

If you're assisting someone in a war you might be considered at war. A US base participating in the aggression would of course be considered a legitimate target by Iran. But more details are needed here.

Trump has praised the cooperation with the UK’s authorities. He said that the arrests of the five suspects were a good thing as they had already been under investigation "for a long time."
