As other neutral countries such as Austria and Ireland increase defence spending and strengthen ties with NATO, Swiss voters are taking part in a referendum on whether to enshrine a stricter definition of the country’s centuries-old neutrality in the constitution. Switzerland has not fought a military conflict since neutrality was established in 1815, but some argue that measures such as sanctions can undermine that principle. The vote also raises questions about how neutrality can be maintained amid Europe’s changing security landscape, with Russia at war with Ukraine and the US putting pressure on traditional alliances such as NATO. Josh Vardey reports.

Neutrality NEVER been and NEVER will be neutrality.
Switzerland fuels wars around the world since WWI. Worst country on Earth.

Ah yes, the initial amount of people who accepted and rejected the pamphlet was 1-1. Perfect Neutrality.

Nobody takes neutrality as seriously as the Swiss.

There is NO guarantee that being neutral will be an exception to be included in a conflict.

"Neutrality" when they literally pay for the Pope's private army!

Russia has to stand for it'self and partners against the expanding NATO bloc, it's a threat to Russia. If you think otherwise you are just in the NATO bloc that thinks it's not a threat to anyone while it's still expanding aggressively.Someone has to stop it.

They are not neutral but EU undermines there neutrality for the confrontation with Russia.

I wonder if Switzerland shares a border with Russia. If it does, would it still be so "neutral"?
@@Simulation.C.CImported1mo ago
It works both ways then. If Switzerland refuses to help anyone else due to being "neutral", then when the time comes that Switzerland needs help, no one should help them either.
This is also a greenlight to countries that want to claim new territory for power. I see Donald Trump is looking for a new country to loot and pillage, seems like Switzerland is free for the taking, everyone will allow it since it helps maintain the "neutral" illusion they want so much.

Does that mean, War Criminals can now live freely in Switzerland, if it becomes "Absolute Neutral"?

Switzerland needs to grow up and catch up with the current geopolitical climate; they cannot be neutral even if they think they are.

1:29 well said. Neutrality is not taking sides because of alliances/enemies, to not care whether a crime against humanity or war crimes are being committed or not is closer to being an accomplice. Human rights are not a matter of partiality

So stand by whilst a bully pummels the weak. Who will stand up for you?
