CJP’s Ultimatum to Chief Election Commissioner

An Indian Express investigation published on 23 September said that two out of the three Election Commissioners had flagged 14 objections in 10 months to certain decisions related to the voter roll revision, or SIR.

Holding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar responsible for arbitrary decision-making, the pressure group, Cockroach Janta Party, called for his resignation within 48 hours. Their other two demands included the halting of all upcoming polls, and a rollback of the 2023 law on the appointment of election commissioners.
