The people who are close to you recieve your criticism because you want them to be a better version of themselves. It can be a kindness, rather than to leave them in ignorance that makes them unliked by others. Much of this comes in the delivery and packaging. Speak the truth, ie. You've got room to improve. But do it kindly. Not, wow, you messed that up.

If we all started to respect & love our friends the way we're supposed to and break the shallow "casual friend" concept (friendships were never supposed to be treated casually, we have acquaintanceships fo that), this capitalistic system would be another couple of steps closer to crumbling down.

A rather disappoint 10 euros. Oy... I am basically a magician which is one step up from the lowest of the lowest of entertainers... Recently i noticed this practice in Space Maker videos as i just discovered them. @26:50 — That’s true. Dr. Robert Cialdini discusses this in his book *Influence*, and it’s something I’ve consciously done for years. For example, I might ask someone to pass me the creamer or sugar, even though I drink my coffee black.

Cialdini is one of the foremost researchers on influence and persuasion, and Influence is a great read.

One thing I also learned when I moved into more leadership roles, is that genuinely praising people in front of others—during a daily meeting, for example—can go a long way toward building trust, likability and rapport.
It also gives you more credibility when you later have to be firm and point out that something was done poorly. If people know that you recognize and appreciate good work, they’re generally more receptive to constructive criticism when something needs to be corrected.

And there’s another benefit: people higher up in the organization notice how you handle both praise and criticism. Good leaders need to demonstrate empathy while still holding people accountable. If you can consistently do both, you build trust, credibility, and the kind of leadership reputation that can open the door to greater responsibility and, eventually, promotion.
