Who Owns AI?<br><br>We keep asking the wrong question about artificial intelligence.<br><br>We ask: “What should AI be allowed to do?”<br><br>But there&#39;s another question we need to answer before it&#39;s too late:<br><br>“Who gets to control AI?”<br><br>Because AI is becoming more than a piece of software.<br><br>It&#39;s becoming an economic asset.<br>A creative asset.<br>A technological asset.<br>And potentially, a social asset that millions of people depend on.<br><br>And that creates a problem.<br><br>If AI is privately developed, what rights protect the people and companies that create and own it?<br><br>If AI becomes essential to society, what rights should the public have to its benefits and accountability?<br><br>And perhaps most importantly:<br><br>What limits should exist on the government&#39;s power over AI?<br><br>Because saying that something is important to society should never automatically mean that the government owns it.<br><br>At the same time, calling something “private property” shouldn&#39;t automatically mean the public has no rights when that technology becomes essential to everyday life.<br><br>So maybe we need a new framework.<br><br>Private AI should have protections for ownership, investment, development, and use.<br><br>Socially important AI should come with clearly defined public interests—access, accountability, transparency, and protection from abuse.<br><br>And government use of AI should have boundaries of its own.<br><br>The goal isn&#39;t to give AI human rights.<br><br>The goal is to establish human rights and property rights around AI before someone else decides those rules for us.<br><br>Because here&#39;s the question:<br><br>When AI becomes one of the most valuable assets in society, who gets to decide who controls it—the people, private owners, corporations, or the government?<br><br>Maybe the answer shouldn&#39;t be just one of them.<br><br>Maybe we need a system where private innovation and public interest can exist together—without giving any one institution unlimited control.<br><br>That&#39;s the conversation we need to have before AI becomes too important to change the rules.

I don&#39;t think INTELLIGENCE should even be in the name for what Large Language Models are becoming. Intelligence implies sentience, common sense, morality, and empathy, as well as useful adaptability. Currently, AI has the ability to do massive calculations, data accumulation, analysis, cataloguing and synthesis into useful products. It’s a glorified computer, but NOT INTELLIGENT.

<br>AI, as currently exhibited is a super calculator mixed with a super sleuthing data analyzing tool. I know, because I use it every day, that it is DEVOID of anything remotely like &quot;INTELLIGENCE&quot;. It has no moral guardrails, and is so apt to move off into goofyland that &quot;common sense&quot; cannot yet be attributed to it. It is a Super Archivist, Super Organizer, Super Calculator, and to the degree it can assess the assembly and function of novel molecules, it could be called a Super Inventor.

<br>This is the critical point. Without the SENTIENCE, MORALITY, COMMON SENSE and EMPATHY which make up the very core of human intelligence we take for granted as Homo sapiens, the &quot;intelligence&quot; pasted on these silicon machines is truly &quot;artificial&quot; and must be critically supervised by a REAL Super Intelligence, that of Homo sapiens (which, of course, as we all know, consists of a full spectrum of good and bad people). However, while the current AI is incapable of sentience, common sense, morality, and empathy, at least Homo sapiens is CAPABLE of having all that, whether we all put it to the best use or not.

Another day, another Fox News segment about putting guardrails on AI. 😂 Now it is a double edged sword, it is evolving too rapidly, Congress needs uniform federal standards, critical infrastructure could be threatened, financial systems could be disrupted, and apparently humanity needs to move quickly before the machines get too powerful. Fair enough, some of those risks are legitimate and worth taking seriously. But the timing is still comedy gold. 😂 Millions of regular people suddenly have a tool sitting in their pocket that can compare multiple news sources, search court records, explain legal documents, check dates, identify contradictions, and answer follow up questions in seconds, and Washington suddenly sounds like a parent who just discovered the kids figured out the WiFi password. 😂 Careful with that AI, folks. You might accidentally start checking what everybody on television is telling you. 👀 The funniest part is that Republicans cannot even agree among themselves about how much regulation AI needs, while Trump is calling the push for more guardrails a sick conspiracy. So apparently AI is simultaneously an existential danger, an economic necessity, a national security weapon, and something America absolutely cannot slow down. 😂 Good luck putting that toothpaste back in the tube. Anyway, while Congress debates how many guardrails artificial intelligence needs, I have one extremely low tech tool ready to go. A calendar. September 24, 11:00 a.m. Judge Emmet Sullivan is expecting the redacted and unredacted handwritten FBI notes underlying four FD 302 reports for private judicial review. Those notes contain allegations, not established findings, but the judge gets to inspect the underlying material himself. No artificial intelligence required for that one. Just a federal judge, the original notes, and a clock. ⏰😂

American tech companies have not been willing to follow European digital privacy and security laws so they are creating their own tech ecosystem with Canada, Japan, South Korea and Singapore. Australia, New Zealand and other countries have showed interest in joining.. Not everyone likes unregulated AI and software, cyberattacks are increasing.

No Regulatory moats or immunities.<br>No Nationalization.<br>No IPO.<br>Let them fail and be absorbed by the tech conglomerates who can actually fund the R&amp;D.<br><br>The problem is that neither Anthropic nor OpenAI have built viable products that are profitable. Enterprise customers are not impressed. If they had some surper great technologies, they would have customers lining up. But they don&#39;t, because it&#39;s all smoke and mirrors. We should not pass the buck to the American public on this.
