Knysna has become one of the Western Cape's most politically contested municipalities, with coalition politics, service delivery concerns and repeated changes in local leadership dominating headlines in recent years.
The town is currently governed by an ANC-led coalition with the Patriotic Alliance, Knysna Independent Movement, EFF and Plaaslike Besorgde Inwoners, with the DA in opposition.
As the last voter registration weekend got underway ahead of local government elections, residents have been encouraged to make their voices count at the ballot box.
SABC News reporter Tanya Krause filed this report from Knysna, in the Western Cape.
