56-year-old former police general appears in court

A 56-year-old former police general has been arrested by the SAPS National Cold Case Unit for the alleged unlawful possession of more than 100 rounds of police-issued ammunition. The ammunition was seized during a search at his Centurion home in July, as investigators probed the murder of Lieutenant General Sindile Mfazi.

SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe says the former general, who left the police service in 2009, is expected to appear before the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court today, facing a charge under the Firearms Control Act
