More seniors appear to be spending time on their smartphones watching AI-generated micro-dramas, based on anecdotal observations, said Senior Minister of State for Health Tan Kiat How in parliament on Wednesday (Nov 4).
He noted that 49 per cent of seniors aged 60 and above reported spending one to two hours daily on leisure activities on their devices, while another 38 per cent spent three to five hours.
He also added that local studies linking problematic smartphone use to poorer mental health outcomes have largely focused on younger and middle-aged adults and that the government is monitoring emerging research to see if further studies are needed. #singapore #sgnews

Taking care ofelderly is not just digital is to reduce loney death for the sake of our youngs mental health and all bells that link to agencies for elderly s emergencies ...should not be just a system voice mail
All soiling tasks to reduce mental health for elderly are oversight ed...whole of parliament keep discussing issue all in general only akin psy are cherry picking stressful elderly and not mentally sick ones....we empathise certain issues are hard to manage but is all a matter of the heart and the courage to empower..
Am glad this is mentioned. It’s not just the seniors, this shouldn’t be a speech to justify agencies and their effectiveness. but more so to address the impact of digitalisation on a population.
I dont understand whdn i helped i dont demand to be paid or need to shower gifts to help vulnerable ones...anf if agencies are encouraged to accept gift hope many meed to learn from iswaran excepting and receiving gift for a condition is a bribery...y sporeans bcom so mercenary amd i am tired of parliament which darent empower agencies but only laymen
Min tan i heard kakis elderly volunteer s...but agencies are pushing elderly all complex issues all around from aic to ssa and rc to ssa...whose duty to focus on elderly complex issue...aic had many surveys from me but t darent empower ssa to do their best but y aic didn't encourage their volunteers to help ..such volunteers op thk ..a dollar tag or vouchers coupons given to elderly to help..but how abt aces need elderly to shower gifts too???...we appreciate we do n t mind but pl dont enforce compulsory acceptance of gift...lets us appreciate sincerely and spare a thought for many elderly who have no children to give nore
