Conservative US commentator Tucker Carlson has claimed the Trump administration is weighing a nuclear strike on a suspected Iranian nuclear site known as 'Pickaxe Mountain.' DW's Jared Reed talks to Middle East analyst Arash Azizi about why the location is a difficult target, and about prospects for a negotiated end to the Iran war.

Notice how casually the words "nuclear strike" now enter a normal news segment, analyzed, weighed, then moved past. Fifteen years ago that sentence would have stopped the broadcast. And remember, it's the same club: NATO. The same one Rutte confirmed was involved in the attacks on Iran just weeks ago. Notice in this video the participants actually say it, strikes can't solve this, only a deal can. Which is the part worth repeating. Why don't they apply that same logic to the war in Ukraine, where NATO is just as involved: funding it, buying and producing the weapons, guiding and planning their use, and providing satellite access?
Who trusts Tucker Carlson? I just can't see how the USA could use nuclear weapons when Putin has threatened it so many times. If those things fly we are all dead and they know that. Putin already said "there will be no winners". Stop with this mis-information!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
once america uses nuclear weapons, it opens the door for other nuclear states to use nuclear weapons against non-nuclear states. iran will eventually get its own nuclear weapons like north korea. they both bought nuclear weapons tech from pakistan.
The Americans should get out of the middle east and also Europe.
I lost any hope in this nation. The current president should be impeached, removed from the office and held somewhere.
It is such a mess over there, it's just crazy!
Who would risk plunging his country to nuclear strikes against US after striking Iran! Definitely no one, condemnation will follow for few days and normal life will resume. If there will be a nuclear war btw China and the US it will be US who will have hit China first.
We need to be clear that there is no such thing as a 'tactical nuclear weapon'. It's a misnomer, and a contradiction. Once a nuke is used - no matter how small and how remotely - the entire global picture changes. It's astonishing that what was, just a short while ago, regarded as the 'unthinkable' is now spoken about so matter-of-factly. It's become 'normalised', almost. 'Yeah, go on... let's light one up and see what happens.' I'll tell you what will happen. It'll be the beginning of the end.
contaminating with nucleare fallout in the mountain is the best way to stop restarting the iranian nucleare constructions..then land troops..its not banned because nucleare attack on mountains does not kill people..
If he uses a nuclear weapon of any kind, it's going to enable Russia and every other nuclear power to use nuclear weapons as they choose to win a conflict. It's literally going to enable the one thing that everyone since the invention of the nuclear bomb has been fearing. I seriously pray the whole house and the Senate turns blue after this election and somehow people with better sense and a spine to stand up to Israel take control of the strings. Or at least pull back on the strings because Israel seems to be obviously the one that's pulling them.
Its just a inertia bomb, not nuclear😊 Ment to bust up targets deep underground. And even little bit nuclear would not harm becouse it is just a military complex deep in desert😊
Nuking Iran because them having a nuke would be too dangerous (because their regime are seen as unstable enough to actually use one) would certainly be very on par for Trump's intellectual capability.
Everything Azizi said makes sense. Great insights! The last point he made about Trump being freer after midterms to make concessions is very interesting. I assume it means he doesn't like being called Taco.
I swear one of you guys is on reddit, I'll always see a post on there some hours before a DW report with almost a similar title, love your work guys
Plutonium looks good on the buy guys ,could skyrocket in share prices ,heads up to make a buck yeeeeaaaahh, market are up that’s all that matter 30 seconds to the bell then run to the bunkers and watch the world explode
Im interested to know..

The EUs role in the current US build-up and continued supply chain support..
That's a story worth tackling.
It is also an important piece in history where EU stood when US got the whole world on the edge..
A nuclear strike would just give other countries a reason to begin their own nuclear programs and give a reason for North Korea to keep building more nuclear bombs. This will also incentivize Iran to go full steam ahead on producing their own weapons and before you know it each country has a bomb.
In the past the top US generals were all polled as to what they would do if given a nuclear launch order from a president and to a man-all said they would refuse such an order.

!
I don't know who is more unhinged. Tucker Carlson, or DW for running with it. Grow up DW. Try doing actual journalism instead of your sensationalistic garbage.
That would give his boyfriend, Putin, the perfect excuse.

Trump's Iran adventure was already a gift to Putin, but Trump always has more for his special somebody ....
Why you guys making a fuss about it when Iranian are not even flinched. If you follow Iranian medias they believe a nuclear strike could be a possibility. Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Mohsen Rezai said that they might destroy one of their provinces which most certainly would be painful but Israel would cease to exist. So if Trump's want to be the the President who destroyed Israel, let him make the decision.
What evil you’re spreading. That man would NEVER USE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. That’s why we Americans won’t come to your rescue when Russia marches in. You Europeans are NUTS.!!!
🚨 In india, on trump's order google cut 600 ACRES of ANCIENT forest land for MONOPOLY IN DATA CENTER.

WHY??

After WW3 started DATA SOLUTIONS WILL BE THE ' NEW GOLD '

Indian politicians are already super greedy and corrupt as we all know. But The resistance to these schemes has NO DW media coverage is super horrible.
President Trump has said that he would not attack Iran again before the US midterm elections, and has also been sending out mixed messages about negotiations with Tehran.
