The Independent Police Investigative Directorate is hopeful that the two remaining suspects in connection with the alleged theft of precious metals and stones worth 14 million rand will soon be apprehended.
IPID is in the process of effecting three arrest warrants linked to the case.
An Ekurhuleni Metro Police official was arrested on Friday night.
The warrants follow testimony at the Madlanga Commission, where Witness K alleged that she and suspended EMPD Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi were part of plans to forcefully remove precious metals at an apartment in Killarney, Johannesburg in 2023.
