KwaZulu-Natal's Premier Thami Ntuli has welcomed the decision by the Special Tribunal to set aside an R85 million contract for the construction of a wall along the KwaZulu-Natal- Mozambique border.
The SIU found that the winning bidder, ISF Shula Joint Venture, secured the tender using a fraudulent BBBEE certificate, an expired letter of good standing, and without meeting key financial requirements.
The project was a critical security intervention against cross-border vehicle smuggling, which has plagued the region for decades.
