Russian forces reportedly used cluster munitions against Kyiv overnight into Thursday, coming as part of a salvo that saw 21 ballistic missiles launched at the city. The barrage occurred just hours after U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff concluded talks with Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg. Beyond Kyiv, waves of Russian strikes pounded Ukraine's northern and eastern regions into Thursday, killing at least 12 civilians and wounding more than 70 others. Meanwhile, in Operation Veles, Ukrainian forces advanced approximately 15 kilometers through underground gas pipelines to reach the rear of Russian positions near the city of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region.
To discuss this and more, Ukraine Brief host Marie Kato is joined Yevheniia Kravchuk, Deputy Chair of the Ukrainian Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy.
