‘Singapore is like the durian’: PM Wong on responding to weaponisation of trade

“Singapore is like the durian. You can squeeze us, but you will feel the pain too.”

Speaking at the DBS Asia Future Forward Conference on Monday (Oct 12), Prime Minister Lawrence Wong used an analogy to explain how Singapore can stand its ground amid the growing weaponisation of trade.

Mr Wong explained Singapore’s mantra for resilience: “We make friends, we stay relevant and have something valuable to offer to others, and we build up capabilities to protect ourselves and stand on our own two feet,” he said. #sgnews #singapore
