Why would a country charge its citizens for education? Don't you want educated and productive citizens? It'll obviously pay back double.

In Sweden you're paid ~£350/mo to study - more than enough to cover a dorm (typically ~£250-£300/mo).
@MrThrashmetal101
The interest on those loans are ridiculous, In New Zealand our student loans are interest free. As long as you stay in the country while paying it off.
@monkeybusiness2204
One important advise is to get a degree in something that is sought after in the market. I see parents encouraging their kids to "pursue their dream". No, please don't do that. Don't "follow your dream or your heart". Only some has the talent to make it if they "follow their dream". Most will fail and riddled with debts.

Education should be free. Governments want skilled workers, and everyone pays income tax (when working) and GST/VAT (when spending) for the rest of their lives!

This is the fourth time I've seen the same video why do they keep the uploading

The education business.
@MrSpeedDemon666
We were told in school/college that if we didn't go to uni we'd never amount to anything. Years later majority of us are in deep debt. If I got turn the clock back I'd do an apprenticeship

Loan sharks. Every time you pay your monthly payment your loans supposed go down. Yes your supposed pay more than you borrowed. But as long as you pay your bills each month it shouldn't increase regardless of rate changes. If they're charging you more. Or it's going back up. That company is a loan shark. And they're increasing what you owe. I've seen this rampant in different loan companies across the world.

I rly think the government should get rid of student loans for healthcare staff who work in the NHS for an X number of years. My loan will be 65K+ by the time I finish my course and I have worked in a NHS hospital for the eternity of my course to fund life. We’ll be working for the government and it will likely reduce the NHS strikes and dissatisfaction

Uni isn't worth the money anymore

I went to uni just before the fees went up to £9k a year. So luckily I have paid most of mine off. But today I'd have done an apprenticeship.

General life costs are too high now for uni to be worth it unless you're going to be a doctor, dentist or engineer

I am glad I did it in India. £ 500 in total for both graduate and postgraduate. That's 2009. That £ is today cost of Rs 130

The anger I feel isn’t necessarily the debt, it’s the fact that my degree (decent, STEM) is essentially worthless because I can’t get a decent job and would have been arguably better off if I just didn’t go to uni.
@rickenbacker472
The country voted for Tony Blair and decided that sending 50% of the population to university was a good idea. This is the result.

Getting in debt whilst getting indoctrinated...its a win win for the government.
@supergroovalistic
Because we were lied to. We were all told at school "get a degree" and now it's impossible to get a job but we're 30k+ in debt at the starting line. Biggest scam going.

I am sympathetic to an extent as I’m one of you, but don’t tell me to care about people on £85,000 who have bought houses with an S on the end, when there’s people really struggling just to survive.
@GrandAdmiralThong
It will take 25-30 years to pay back. 😢😢

Yep. The gov back then allowed universities to charge fees to 10k per year. So what did they all do? EVERY UNIVERSITY PUT FEES UP.

No one forced you to go to uni and get loans. Also if want to repay. Dont go fancy holidays, buy things dont need etc. Im 42 and never been a holiday in my life and no debt. Live within my means
