This is marketing.<br>‘Kimono’ is a word that evokes class, elegance, serenity, beauty….so attaching that word to your product simply benefits the seller. But calling a garment a ‘kimono’ doesn’t make it a kimono. <br>I love kimonos, and with the images of these ‘coats’ with big sleeves —some of which look more like a bathrobe—, ‘kimono’ is not the first thing that comes to my mind, especially with such ‘bright’ colors. This is a gimmick to me, not good fashion design. An attempt at a blend, perhaps, but not a success, because… they don’t ‘feel’ like KIMONO.
Cultural appropriation
That is called plagiarism...
