I’m an Iranian American and a Democrat. I didn’t vote for Trump, but I understand why this war with Iran matters. I know the Islamic Republic regime well. It is an ideological and murderous regime, not one that operates according to international norms or logic. They just executed two young men for the crime of “enmity against God”, not against the state, but against God. The goal should be to stop the Islamic Republic from building nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles that could eventually be used to threaten and bully the world. Right now, people are worried about gas prices. I understand that, but gas prices are a minor issue compared with the much bigger concerns we could be facing in the future. Most people have no idea what the Islamic Republic has been doing while they go about their lives peacefully. Its ideology has already spread to fanatics and extremist groups beyond Iran. If the Islamic Republic is allowed to develop nuclear weapons and long-range missiles, the threat won’t be limited to the Middle East. So please understand what’s really at stake here. Gas prices are temporary. The consequences of allowing this regime to become a nuclear-armed power could last for generations. Support Trump in fighting this regime. Trust me, gas prices are the minor issue here.

But instead of repeatedly saying, “This is the mess we inherited, and this is what we are doing to fix it,” they seemed to absorb the blame themselves.Trump then inherited an economy that was moving in the right direction. He could have simply ridden that momentum. Instead, we got tariffs, threats towards sovereign countries, tensions with NATO and longstanding allies, and further international intervention. And then there are the Epstein files. I think he badly misjudged his own base on that issue. Had there been full transparency and the files been released with only legally necessary redactions, his supporters might well have been far more forgiving than he apparently expected. Instead, he has handed the Democrats an issue they can keep coming back to.
