Christa Pike was 20 when she became the youngest woman on death row in the US.
Now, 30 years later she’s facing her execution date this week. She would be the first woman put to death in Tennessee in nearly 200 years.
Pike was one of two people convicted of brutally beating, torturing and murdering Colleen Slemmer, a 19-year-old woman she met at a training programme for troubled teens.

That's not the person she brutally murdered would describe her, AND THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS

She was offered a plea bargain for life without parole, but rejected it and decided to take the case to court and ended up with a death sentence. It's her own fault that she's about to die.

In the US, 30% of the population meet criteria for Antisocial Personality Disorder. That incidence is TWICE as high as in the rest of the world (approximately 15-17% globally). The White House leadership represents some of the sociopaths and the rest are apparently in this comment section.

I might have sympathised with her 'if' she had attacked her childhood abusers.. but she tortured & brutally murdered an innocent girl.. smashed her head with a rock & kept a part of Colleen's skull as a souvenir which she bragged about having..
The state still HOLD that piece of Colleen's skull.. soon as this monster is dead.. Colleen's parents will be given that part of Colleen's skull & her parents will after 30 years finally be able to lay Colleen in her final resting place 'whole'.. the BBC are very good at only telling PART of these type stories.. anyone who thinks this monster deserves to live is deluded..

This is incredibly wrong. Yes what she was very evil. Executions are evil. I think many of you in the comments are blood thirsty and goes to show how sick of society we live in. Id rather live in a place with rehabilitation and way to work towards forgiveness over revenge.

I cannot advocate for the death penalty. We have no evidence that it even works as a deterrent. Taking another life, however justified you may believe is not going to bring back Colleen.

Killing humans is wrong, they say; just words. The only people fit to judge here are those who know her by studying her case, but life (entire, if this is decided) in prison is a 'civilised' alternative.

This is what you get when you kill someone with such barbarism. Respect to the judge and the law.

Death penalty is an abomination.
There are always reasons why things like that happen.
Often these people have been victimes of child abuse as small children.
The bible tells you not to kill and Jesus would certainly not want us to kill other people, even if they have killed someone.
I always thought that the USA were a civilized country.
Applying the death penalty would prove that it is not true.
And a death penalty does not change peoples behavior. There are not less crimes in countries where this form of punishment exists.
On the contrary, most of the time it increases brutality.
@@missdeebatesImported1mo ago
So pleased that we dispensed with the death penalty in the UK, more than fifty years ago, for many reasons.
1. The death penalty is a get out of jail free card.
2. Someone has to implement the sentence and the death .
3. We are supposed to be civilised and humane society..

17... She was young and blinded by anger, not to mention her disturbing past who is shurely most in cause. The murder is awful, but execute her will not bring the dead one back, and I don't believe this girl is a danger anymore or a killer in the heart.

No one has said it yet so I am going to. Christa was upset because Colleen was prettier than her.
