The South African Police Service top brass have provided Parliament with updates on the latest big crime incidents making headlines in the country this week.
This includes the mass killing of 11 people in KwaMakhutha south of Durban last night.
A group of about 14 people were having a party in the Ziko area when at least 3 gunmen entered the yard and opened fire.
The SAPS leadership appeared before the Police Portfolio Committee to discuss the crime statistics of the first quarter of the 2026/27 financial year.
This would cover the period of 1 April to the end of June this year.
Among others SAPS have reported a reduction in contact crimes in most provinces.
Nonhlakanipho Magwaza reports.
