Yemen government forces clash with Houthis along strategic western coast

Fighting has intensified across multiple fronts in Yemen, as government forces, backed by warplanes and drones, clash with Ansarullah Houthi fighters along the western coast and mountainous interior regions. The battle for the mountain range stretching from Taiz towards Lahj is particularly fierce, with control of the area seen as vital to safeguarding Bab al-Mandab, Mokha and Taiz governorate. Despite days of heavy combat, neither side has made significant territorial gains, underscoring the strategic difficulty of the terrain.

Al Jazeera’s Hadeel Al Yamani reports from Taiz, Yemen.
