This goes way beyond Chinese exports to the EU or German brands protecting their home turf. The G7 plus the EU make up just 12% of the world's population, and the other 88% don't care about protecting Western industrial interests. Sure, Europe can build trade walls to keep Chinese cars out of its backyard, but what happens in ASEAN, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America? You either step up and compete globally, or you're just admitting defeat before the game even starts.

I suspect many of the comments here are from Chinese users or bots, but it’s honestly hard to understand why they’re so hostile toward Germany, considering how much China has learned from Germany over the years. You’d think there would be at least some appreciation for that.

in the first minute, narrator pointed out that German cars rely on Chinese market, (so, that is not overcapacity??? Germans cannot consume all their German cars). When Chinese EV is exported, sold, welcomed in Europe, that is over capacity. Only Germany & Japan can sell cars overseas, not China. what an illogic and hypocrisy. Go figure

Interesting Europeans don't see the irony in their own arguments. Open market is good when European industries dominate export markets. Open market is bad when it's the other way around. What China is doing is exactly what European companies have been doing to the rest of the world for the past 75 years and they got lazy and sloppy. They need to grow a pair and compete.

My cousin owns an auto shop in NY, we all know European cars are a lot harder to fix and have a lot more problems than Japanese cars or even Korean cars in recent years. It's a free market, and there are a lot of Chinese willing to pay more cash for a foreign brands like Tesla but European EVs is so far behind in tech. You can't blame China if people know how well Tesla sells in China. The only one Europe should hate are themselves for falling behind in R&D, the Chinese had poured billions in developments if you just look at the spending of their auto makers.

China has always worried about relying too much on foreign oil, so they pushed hard for alternatives, which is why their EV industry took off. Running away from problems never leads to real progress. Instead of letting politicians fool them into dodging the issues, Germany needs to do the hard work of revamping its industry and energy supply.

10 years ago 35% of GDP in Germany was manufacturing today is 10%. Germany went from an export of technology to be an importer. The GDP per capital income of Germany is now equal to the poorest state in America. Basically it wasn’t that way 15 years ago. the rest of the EU is significantly poorer than Germany.
