* The SAPS has dismissed Major General Feroz Khan from the service. Major General Khan was deemed dismissed following his failure to appear before the designated senior officer responsible for dealing with the expeditious disciplinary process.

* President Cyril Ramaphosa's legal counsel argued in the Western Cape High Court that the Section 89 impeachment process functions as a politically motivated attack rather than a fair judicial inquiry. Ramaphosa is applying at the Western Cape High Court to set aside the Section 89 Independent Panel report.

* The Electoral Commission of South Africa says more than 2 200 candidates from 45 political parties have failed to finalise their nominations ahead of the deadline for the 4 November local government elections. Political parties and independent candidates intending to contest the upcoming elections had until 5pm on Friday, last week to submit their candidate nominations.

* At least two people were killed after a shooting took place at an apartment building in downtown Minneapolis. According to police, the suspect was also found dead.
