HIGHLIGHTS | PSG 4 vs 2 FC BARCELONA | UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 26/27 🔵🔴

I’ll say it again, no team has ever won the champions league or European cup without keeping a clean sheet. We need a defense instead of trying to out score the opposition. This is what will happen when the front fails to score. This is the third season and no lessons have been learned.

¡Rodri! ¿Qué espera exactamente que haga él?

@Barcelona Barcelona Must Learn From Its Mistakes: Rotation Is Key to Winning the Champions League

In my opinion, PSG have two major advantages going into this match. First, they are playing at home. Second, they have managed their squad rotation much better. PSG rested nine players in their league match, giving them approximately eight days of recovery since their game against Manchester City. In a competition as physically and mentally demanding as the Champions League, this is a significant advantage.

When it comes to Barcelona, I believe the biggest problem is not just the difficult fixture schedule, but also Hansi Flick’s approach to squad management. Unfortunately, he seems to be repeating the same mistakes. Barcelona have been eliminated from the Champions League in the last two seasons, and I believe one of the key issues has been the failure to manage players’ minutes effectively.

Flick relies too heavily on certain players, often making them play almost every minute of every important game. At the same time, other players do not get enough opportunities to gain match fitness and confidence. This approach might work for a while, but it is not sustainable over an entire season, especially when competing in several competitions.

Look at Barcelona’s situation before this match. They had a difficult away game last week, yet there was little to no rotation. The poor pitch conditions made things even more demanding. Rodri has been dealing with a minor injury, Martín has also had fitness concerns, Koundé and Eric were already unavailable, and Jesús then suffered an injury as well. On top of that, Raphinha could not be brought back in time for this game.

Of course, injuries and an unfortunate fixture schedule are partly a matter of bad luck. However, these circumstances make squad rotation even more important, not less. If a team wants to compete at the highest level, it must be prepared for injuries, fatigue and unexpected setbacks.

Barcelona’s schedule makes the situation even more difficult: one of the toughest away games in the league, followed by a Champions League clash and then El Clásico. In such a demanding period, relying on the same starting eleven over and over again is a huge risk. A manager must think beyond the next 90 minutes and consider the physical condition of his players over the entire season.

Another major issue is international football. Many Barcelona players are regularly called up by their national teams and play heavy minutes during international breaks. They then return to the club without having had enough time to recover. If key players are expected to play more than 65 matches in a season, maintaining peak physical condition throughout the campaign becomes extremely difficult.

Fatigue affects more than just physical performance. It also influences decision-making, concentration, pressing intensity and the risk of injury. These details can make the difference between winning and losing a Champions League knockout tie.

I believe Flick needs to change his approach to player management. Trusting your best players does not mean playing them for 90 minutes in every match. Sometimes, taking a key player off after 60 minutes is the smarter decision. Sometimes, giving a substitute a starting role is necessary. And sometimes, protecting a player for the next big game is more important than pushing him to his limits in the current one.

Rotation is not simply about resting star players. It is about keeping the entire squad ready. If substitutes rarely get meaningful minutes, how can the team expect them to deliver when injuries force them into the starting eleven during a crucial Champions League match? Players need rhythm, confidence and a clear sense that they are trusted members of the squad.

Barcelona’s management must also take responsibility. Squad depth, injury prevention, physical preparation and workload management should all be reviewed seriously. Not every injury can be prevented, but a better rotation strategy and more effective workload management can reduce unnecessary risks.

My concern is that if Flick continues with the same stubborn approach, Barcelona will keep putting themselves in a vulnerable position in the Champions League. Sooner or later, fatigue, injuries or a difficult fixture schedule will lead to a poor performance. In a knockout competition, one bad night can destroy an entire season’s work.

Barcelona have the quality to compete for the Champions League title, but individual talent alone is not enough. The team needs a sustainable strategy that keeps its best players fit while ensuring that the rest of the squad is ready to contribute when needed.

I hope Flick and the Barcelona board take this issue seriously before it is too late.

The Champions League is not won simply by having the best starting eleven. It is won by managing the squad wisely, keeping players fresh and getting the best out of the entire team at the most important moments.

Visca Barça! ❤️💙

Bernal needs to learn faster from Rodri how to control the mid and take less time on the ball while being accurate, Gordon needs more shooting drills it’s like we literally replaced Ferran with Gordon. And the team must learn to shoot more, Fermin strength is outside the box shots yet we keep limiting the team individual talent just to try and make lamine shine. Even Rodri don’t u know he is a weapon outside the box with his controlled power or finesse shots. We need to stop just making 1 player carry all the burden to look good. Notice Messi made everyone around him better.

We won the game because of Flick and not buying the defense. Mr. Flick and the players, if it wasn't for the goalkeeper and we were humiliated like Bayern, then who would have answered the club's fans? Please respect the fans and play with your heart and soul. Flick, you sacrificed the game for El Clasico. ❤❤❤
