The Motor Industry Staff Association, MISA, is demanding an urgent crackdown on freeway killings.
This after a motorist was shot and killed during an alleged robbery after stopping alongside the N1.
Reports indicate that the victim was forced to pull over after his vehicle was allegedly damaged by spikes deliberately placed on the road by alleged criminals.
MISA says this tragedy is not an isolated incident and it forms part of an alarming pattern of violent crime targeting motorists on South Africa's highways.
Earlier this year (2026), MISA warned motorists about a rise in incidents after rocks were placed on the N4 Eastbound between Silver Lakes and Donkerhoek.
MISA Spokesperson Phakamile Hlubi-Majola now joins to talk about this.
