Those 3.3/3.5 duratec engines are fantastic. Running that engine with coolant mixed in the oil is a giant no no and you most definitely know that already. 20 min drive can cook and spin those main bearings. If caught early then fix the water pump and let them enjoy the car. If they can get another 50-100k thats a win for everyone.

Those "engineers" that design these engines need to beat with a switch for hours for putting a water pump in places like that!

I would absolutely fix it, like u said it could last another 100 to 150 thousand miles, and unfortunately you have no idea how they drive or take care of their vehicles! You are a great guy and do a lot of good but like you’ve shown in the past, sometimes people take advantage of u and your kindness. Just my $.02.
Definitely not worth putting a motor in I'd say fix then give her the option keep or trade for another car if she takes the new one might be good to use as a loaner

Just fix the issue! You seem to have a lot of resources but I want to see them go as far as possible. That way more people can know your kindness. Sometimes just knowing someone was willing to help you can be bigger than what you actually did for them.

Personally, I'd say fix it unless you start running into more problems while in the process of fixing it. Sure you could get her a newer car, but is that one in bad shape other than the extremely high mileage? Just my 2 cents on it all.
