According to AdImpact data, the Texas race has seen ~$600 million worth of campaign ads since the start of 2025. The eye-watering totals reflect the intensity of the matchup between GOP Attorney General Ken Paxton and Democratic State Rep. James Talarico.
CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten explores the latest data on the Texas Senate race and whether James Talarico could be the first Democrat elected statewide there in decades.

Let's go Texas!!! Talarico actually cares about you and will work to improve you lives! Paxton is only there to appease Dear Leader and to help Elon make even more money. This is the most important race of the Midterms, and I pray that Texas makes the right choice.
FYI, I am getting hammered with text messages. This is the first year that I am getting messages reminding me to vote from Republicans. I take this as a good sign that they are worried here in Texas. PS I already voted and it wasn’t for Paxton.
The lady saying that voting red "keeps kids safe" when that party is full of creeps and weirdos who want guns in the hands of every individual, what is left to say.
REPUBLICAN'S THAT SUPPORTING CHILD ABUSE ITS NOTHING NEW IN THAT PARTY. REPUBLICANS PLAY BOOK PROTECT THE GUILTY, BLAME THE VICTIM. A VOTE FOR A REPUBLICAN IS A VOTE FOR THE CHILD ABUSE TO CONTINUE AND A VOTE FOR RUSSIA. HOW COULD ANYONE VOTE FOR A PARTY THAT SUPPORT THIS STUFF?>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<000000000000pppppppppppjjjjjjjjjjjjjjkkkkkkkkkkk
5:05 “that’s his personal life”??!!! LADY, HE USED HIS PUBLIC OFFICE FOR PERSONAL GAIN! Evangelicalism has absolutely destroyed education and critical thinking.
This is the Most important election for this generation , VOTE,VOTE,VOTE, BLUE BLUE,BLUE ,this is the only way to save our country and our Democracy !!
Mexico is beautiful and the Mexican people are gteatl, friendly. And Claudia will start introducing universal health care for all Mexican citizens. But its run by deadly powerful drug lords and they aren't going anywhere, not in our lifetime.
Talarico is definitely helped by the selection of the totally unsuitable Paxton as his opponent. IF Talarico is able to hold on he does have the opportunity to cement Democrat support in future elections not just for himself but other Democrat candidates in the future
Please spare me the foolishness … I remember the open borders and what the streets looked like in the Great State of Texas which has a direct correlation to the economy as well as inflation
It's outrageous that Elon Musk is buying elections! There should be a law against this because it's a form of stealing...stealing the representation from millions of people! It's dishonest, manipulative, deceptive and clandestine and anti-democratic!
Enten forgot to mention two other key elements of the NYT poll: Independents: Talarico +30. Didn’t vote in 2024: Talarico +40. Paxton is gone. Texas is gone, and with it most likely the GOP's control of the Senate.
Tomorrow is very likely to be one for the records' books, a day of monumental, and historic losses for the Republicans, and they only have themselves to blame.
You can't deceive people to gain power , turn around to mistreat them on all levels, and expect them to give you back power. The hammer about to fall on them is going to be epic, and no $5000
gimmick or sweet talk is going to save them. However Democrats should not celebrate too quickly. Tomorrow is not going to be an endorsement of their usual agenda either, but a rejection of Trumpism.
Democrats would be better off pondering deeply over what got the American people to give power to individuals as corrupt as Trump and his people, in the first place.
If they go back to business as usually, sooner or later the country would circle back into the same mess.
I love that Ken Paxton's pitch was basically "I'm the worst candidate Texas has ever put up for the Senate, and so please vote for me."
That’s his personal life? Ma’am, as AG he accepted bribes and was involved in numerous corruption scandals. That is not his personal life. That is his political life. Most MAGAts you hear blather on, you can easily say “they’re morons.” She seems educated, but is willfully ignoring reality to justify voting for a horrible candidate and person
Talarico reminds me of Obama. Dead eyes and a phony smile. Lets not forget how that worked out. If white educated people vote for Talarico , shows the condition of our education system. He has a weak constitution and won't handle the job. He's soft.
04:55 This lady represents the price GOP voters paid in 2016 and 2024: they will vote for the AntiChrist if it means gaining power for the GOP.
There are gonna be so many mad illiterate people with bald eagle shirts, punisher stickers, and clapped out ankle Hey Dudes running around screeching here in TX. Can’t wait! Get out for Gina too folks!!
LOL @ the Paxton whining... he's talking about HIS job going away and republicans losing texas... and no, your kids are not safer in a government that is corrupt. I got news for you too... plenty of crime in texas already under republicans... for them to act like Texas is some kind of bastion of safety among states is ridiculous. Everybody's got guns and people are using them. Of course what they can't speak to is actuallys tanding up for the people struggling today under Trump's inflation and high prices due to the war we were supposed to be out of months ago that would never last to the election... and after the election he is planning on screwing everyone even worse with his war. You think the cost of gas is high now... if he does what people are saying he's going to, expect gas to go dramatically higher once iran starts raining missiles down on middle east oil infrastructure. Meanwhile, we can't even defend ourselves much less our allies in the middle east... most of our bases are destroyed. We don't have enough ammo or missile interceptors for a sustained campaign if things spiral out of control. But you know, the president thinks it's going to work out because "it always does." pathetic.
What’s crazy is ain’t the new votes from California and blue states that left them states cause of crazy leftist behavior and policies now trying g to vote democrat in to a senate seat 😂😢 what in the world
Hahahahahaha...it is so funny to see americans think they are a democratic land with laws to protect them...the rest of the world is just watching a very bad soap made in the uSSa while taking a dump :P
When man started with "Nineteen hundrend" I thought he was gonna say something like 1930,
But its was only 1988,

Shite..... I'm getting old, we say Nineteen hundreds from that date now 😭🤣???
Love these comments. An example of Believing one's own Bullshit! Let's meet back up here on Wednesday. . unless of course Dumbocrats need more than a day to count. What a CROCK!
Who bought and paid for Talarico? Oh yeah I know already. Just remember the Dem billionaire funding and where he was when he had the “flu”. Did his Biden impression work?
Love when Republicans admit they can "Look past the rest" of their candidates shitty behavior to still vote for them. What deplorable people.
Those who vote for Paxton are going to be the victims of their own doing if he wins, they are going to regret it bitterly. Vote for Talarico who is in every way the best candidate, it doesn't matter that he's not a Republican. This is not a matter of parties. It's a matter of voting for what is right for Texans. VOTE FOR TALARICO AND HINOJOSA. 🙏🗳💙🇨🇱
If you try a little kindness and you honesty want the folks to do a lot better than what the ruling party has given than yes, good character every time over crooked matters in a candidate regardless of party affiliation. Let’s stick with decency and kick corruption out of the Lone Star State!
Some of the Republicans most favorite clip shows or reaction montages are of mainstream media on Election Day for 2016 and 2024. Everyone is so cocky and confident and arrogant and just yall are so relaxed in trusting that the rigging was done sufficiently etcetera and then as each state is called the demeanors as they change and as the the denial and it's like watching someone go to the five stages of grief. Confusion. anger. Defeat. Acceptance. (I don't actually know the five stages of grief but Those are the ones that we watch. )
If y'all don't moderate your own emotions and just try to consider reality, it's going to be like 16 and 24 but a sledgehammer because y'all are so much more confident this time. Just looking out for your mental so well-being
5:04🙄😪 "thats his personal life"🙄😪did she really say that!🙄😪
5:24 how can this journalist keep his face straight interviewing this woman
jesus christ, i'm really sorry but this woman is a ignorant fool.
if her husband would cheat infront of her face, and her husband would say "it's not what you think!"she would believe him
James Tallarico: "A young classy corruption-free 8th generation Texan in his prime with a Masters from Harvard who is so Christian he literally went to seminary school."

Ken Paxton: "A 64 year old career politician born and raised in North Dakota indicted by a grand jury on two felony securities fraud charges where he had to pay a plea deal of paying $300,000 in restitution and take ethics classes to avoid criminal conviction, then was impeached as Texas attorney general 121-33 for bribery and abuse of office, then was court-ordered to pay 6.6 million dollars to those whistleblowers he abused.

HOW IS THIS EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE?!?!?! Come on, Texas. Even if you're a conversative, this isn't "a conservative vs. a liberal". This is "A real Texan and a real Christian that behaves like one VS. a corrupt criminal scumbag from North Dakota whose behavior violates every principle of Christ's teachings."

This isn't hard. It's a normal good human being vs. an absolute criminal trainwreck.
