Then the &#39;ability&#39; can decide who actually gets the job, rather than privilege. So if you want real meritocracy you have to fight the disadvantages that exist in America. Nobody is proposing hard racial quotas in hiring practices. DEI is not akin to &#39;affirmative action&#39; (as affirmative action was basically reverse discrimination that defeated the purpose).
