This whole thing is crazy. A 14 year old babysitting for a couple of hours is fine. But, a week is a whole different scenario. It’s hard to fathom how so many people do not see a problem with that. It sounds as if the babysitter was essentially just there to get them to and from school meaning the 14 year old was left as the responsible party for the vast majority of a full work week. I can see that this mom clearly doesn’t have a strong, reliable support system nearby and was under a lot of pressure. She was essentially between a rock and a hard place. It’s heartbreaking. And 20 years is beyond outrageous. I honestly don’t see how prison time at all is beneficial to anyone in this case. The police royally dropped the ball and overplayed their hand. They should’ve just reported it to Child Services and let them take over the situation. Giving the children to their father without even checking his criminal history or contacting the mom, etc. was a bad, bad move. This is what taking a molehill and turning it into a mountain looks like. Yes, the mom’s decision to leave the kids while she flies to the other side of the country for 5 days was a bad decision. It was not a gloss over, no big deal issue. It needs to be addressed, but I do not see why it needs to be addressed in the criminal court. The child, thankfully, was not grievously injured. But, the details behind how the dumbbell fell and hit his head might shed more light on that, too. Twenty years is probably the most ridiculous part of this.

First of all, this entire situation is absolutely DISGUSTING, and the number of red flags is unbelievable! 🚩🚩🚩

LET’S TALK ABOUT ACCOUNTABILITY, DOUBLE STANDARDS, AND CHILD NEGLECT!

If the mother put her hands on the father first and he responded by knocking the phone out of her hand, then BOTH parties’ actions should have been investigated. Being a woman should NEVER automatically make someone the victim, just as being a man should NEVER automatically make someone the aggressor! The law should apply EQUALLY, regardless of gender!

If this woman made false accusations that resulted in the father being wrongfully arrested and prevented him from caring for his children, she should face serious legal consequences!

NOW LET’S ADDRESS THE MOST OUTRAGEOUS PART!

What kind of mother allegedly leaves FOUR CHILDREN HOME ALONE while she travels to LAS VEGAS?! Business trip, vacation, or personal getaway—it makes absolutely ZERO difference if those children were left without appropriate supervision!

Those children deserved protection, stability, and responsible parenting. Instead, if these allegations are accurate, they were placed in a completely unacceptable situation by the very person responsible for their safety!

I’m absolutely SICK of seeing stories involving parents neglecting, abandoning, abusing, and even killing their own children! MOTHERS MUST BE HELD TO THE SAME STANDARD OF ACCOUNTABILITY AS FATHERS! Being a mother does not automatically make someone a responsible parent, and being a father does not automatically make someone a criminal!

If the evidence proves this mother deliberately endangered her children, lied to law enforcement, and contributed to the father’s wrongful arrest, then prosecutors should pursue EVERY applicable charge and seek the harshest sentence justified by the law!

Her fitness as a custodial parent should be immediately investigated, and the father should receive full consideration for custody if he can provide a safe and stable home.

CHILDREN ARE NOT DISPOSABLE! FATHERS ARE NOT SECOND-CLASS PARENTS! AND WOMEN ARE NOT ABOVE THE LAW!

Stop making excuses for irresponsible parenting. Stop excusing misconduct based on gender. Stop treating accusations as convictions without examining the evidence!

EQUAL RIGHTS MEANS EQUAL RESPONSIBILITY, EQUAL ACCOUNTABILITY, AND EQUAL CONSEQUENCES!

If these allegations are proven, this woman deserves to be held fully accountable—not sympathy, special treatment, or excuses!

PROTECT THOSE FOUR CHILDREN, INVESTIGATE EVERY ALLEGATION, AND LET JUSTICE PREVAIL! 💯

Do you know how many things can happen when there is not a person with life experience (adult) around? Predators, housefire etc. My 14 year old left a burner on and I was there..thank goodness. I dont think she should get 20 years but should get some kind
parenting classes. Or something like a MADD class for what could happen if you leave children alone for n extended amount of time.

I cannot believe you have a hard time believing she's facing charges. She didn't run to the store. She went halfway across the country. 14 is not old enough to parent 3 younger children. She needs to be punished. Any adult who has had a 14 year old, and a shred of sanity, knows 14:isn't old enough to care for 3 children for 5 days.

I think 16 should be the rule. They are old enough to drive and make decisions, especially for looking after other kids. 14 at the youngest, but not 14 and watching others, they should all be 14+, or 16 to be able to watch minors

There's alot of postings about how ya'll where left alone for days when you were younger. But the point is, you shouldn't have been. Back in the day your parents drove with you when they were drunk too, it didn't make it right. Back in the day you daddy could beat the crap outta your mom with no repercussions but it didn't make it right.

The women is going through a divorce. You know money and resources are tight. She came up with a solution she could afford while maintaining her income. The kids had supervision, maybe not as much as some people would want, but there was an emergency and the kids followed instructions a called emergency services. That 14 year old is only months away from being able to drive a car and get a job. I think they’re probably responsible enough to watch younger siblings inbetween check-ins with mom and the sitter. The truth is every kid is different. Some kids are capable of being alone way before others.

In my nonprofessional opinion do not leave a kid/minor, somone under 18, alone for days on end. With all this context I don't think she should be arrested, there was a babysitter and dad was obviously close enough. But I'm so against leaving kids alone. I remember I was like 16-17 (about 2014) and my mom had to go on military orders for days, she left me home alone and I was worried for myself! My older brothers were already out of the house and my dad passed, which I know he would not have let that happen if he were still alive. I had a boyfriend at the time so his parents let me stay the night over there, but I could tell they even had opinions of me being left alone.

Accidents happen with adults in the home too. The 14 year old called 911 which is what an adult may do if they felt the need and didn't want to transport child for care themselves.

Without more indo I think they may have jumped the gun on these charges & arrest.

But on the flip side, why not leave the children with dad, the PO was against the parent not the children from the public knowledge.

So there was a babysitter, a high schooler and the children were off at school for 8 hours each day with adults supervising them. The headline was bad but the facts not so crazy. No one is reporting the kids were going without food, were running in the street at 3am, having parties, they weren’t living in filth. Yet they treated this situation like finding children locked in a basement dirty and malnourished, pooping in a bucket.

Ya way too much has changed in the years... Proud the kids knew to call for help when there was an injury showing they were taught right to call for help. But since there is not legal age of when a sibling can watch over their younger ones I dont see how they can hold her. This was normal in the 90s. Parents taught us what to do if anything happens & we went on about our days. Most of us are still here just fine. Going after a mom that is working after what shes been through sounds like they are just wanting to go after her. Hey DA instead of going after moms how about you make sure not more EPSTEINS are getting sweetheart deals harming way more kids than this!

I disagree with both of you. The sitter was not with the children at night - that is not okay, an intruder could have entered the home. There’s a huge difference between leaving the kids alone while you are at work and leaving them alone for 5 days and nights while you are across the country. It’s not like she was just working across from town and could be home quickly if need be. That’s a huge difference. Especially when they clearly have another parent that can watch them. The charges against their dad is towards their mother, not the kids. So there is no reason for the dad to not have been involved with this.

14 I literally babysat infants from ten on and overnight from 12 on. I loved babysitting. I personally would hire a sitter or bring the kids with me and hire a sitter in Vegas in advance. I just like having an adult around for more then 3 hours and def watching siblings is and can be a bit much. Could have paid for food and stay and kids are prob in school so ask a local mom to sleep over pay her $600 for the week and her food and another $200 for the activities for the kids like movie night or pizza delivery - not that hard !!! Posh on a mommy site or contact the school !!! Here even my son’s teacher watches kids when a single mom is in n severe need. Rare but schools have connections and PTO is like a lion mommy force !!! ASK for help mamas even if you don’t have tons of money just ask ask and ask post on Facebook babysitting and mom groups - you’d be surprised on how many MOMS want to HELP. Don’t fly out without arrangements of another ADULT accidents are accidents for a reason and you don’t need that slack as a SINGLE MOM or parent !!! aSK for HELP family and “ friends “ usually won’t help but there’s mamas online or at your child’s school that WILL
