Alex School Raid | Seven learners arrested during crime operation

Seven learners have been arrested, and several others have been taken in for questioning, at East Bank High School in Alexandra, northern Johannesburg.

This follows a series of crimes, including the burning of school furniture. Some learners were also found with bullets.

The SAPS and the Gauteng Department of Education conducted a search and seizure operation to combat crime and violence in schools.

SABC News' Nomvuyo Ntanjana reports that crime persists at Gauteng schools, despite the department spending R165 million on school patrollers and traffic wardens.
